Of Doom
Working at a toy company is exactly as fun as it sounds. It was also an incredibly enriching experience that allowed me to develop a robust skillset that includes directing, set design, wardrobe, editing, on-set art direction, voiceover acting, and even product development. To be fair, directing kids is mostly about yelling, “Smile! With your mouth! Not directly at the camera!” but it’s a skill nonetheless.
While I got to play with toys every single day, the most fun I had was launching Fugglers. I led the project from the conceptual phase to the execution of the final assets, a wildly weird journey that included developing the campaign concept, names and personality traits for every Fuggler (Gap Tooth McGoo is fond of phlegm), and a stunt that hoodwinked unsuspecting passersby into adopting one of these wretched little things.
